Our Cause

To make a place where you can learn about sustainability, together.

You are the Hero of this story

Every story starts with a Hero. That Hero, dear reader, is you.

You have come to Mr. Sustainability because you want something. You probably want to “do something with sustainability”, but you do not know what to do. Perhaps you know what you want, but you don’t know how or how much it will cost. Perhaps you are simply looking for a place to connect with other like-minded people like you who are trying to make the world a better place.

Whatever the case, we are all facing the same challenge.

Why is everyone so concerned about emissions? That is because of our common enemy: Mr. Climate Chaos.

Mr. Climate Chaos is the enemy

Mr. Climate Chaos is our personification of the main villain in our story. He embodies what we are up against with the maritime industry. He needs to be defeated. In the end it is not just a struggle with rules and regulations, or simply reducing emissions because our clients ask for it. Deep down it is a struggle between good and evil, with you being the hero of the story.

We know this struggle is hard for you, even frustrating at times. We do not all have the time or money available to focus on sustainability. We do not all have a sustainability advisor in our organization.

But, not to worry. We believe that you can defeat Mr. Climate Chaos.

We help you beat Mr. Climate Chaos by creating a place to learn by doing

We can provide you with the tools and insights to make yourself sustainable - and win from Mr. Climate Chaos. We can help you answer the important questions that apply to your specific situation:

  • What can I do?

  • How can I do it?

  • How much does it cost?

Whatever it is, our crew can figure it out, so you can focus on what is important. Your work. This saves you precious time and money. How do we do this?

We do this in 3 ways

  1. Make How-to-Guides and Tools

We write how to guides to arm you with knowledge on how to sustainalize yourself. That requires a lot of reading though and time is precious. That is why for each how to guide, we aim to create a tool that can apply the how to guide to your situation.

  2. Provide Insights

We believe knowledge needs to be shared. That is why we are building a ‘Wikipedia’ for a sustainable maritime industry. The knowledge and insights gained from this database can be directly applied to the how-to-guides and tools.

  3. Share Stories

The universe is made of stories, not atoms. That is why we share stories of other Heroes who are making the journey to become more sustainable. Read, watch, listen and get inspired by stories about sustainable successes from across the maritime industry.

We believe in curiosity, courage and collaboration

We freely share everything because it is our goal is to make the maritime industry sustainable. We believe the best way to do this is freely sharing best practices, insights and working together. All we ask from you in return, is to share knowledge that you believe can be shared.

As far as we know, we are the only people in the maritime industry who work with open-source innovation and collaboration. We believe this is the key in defeating Mr. Climate Chaos, and to make you, your company and your employees happy and sustainable.

Defeating Mr. Climate Chaos will make us all better

Imagine a world where your vessel is completely sustainable. That means you will have zero emissions - that includes spending less money for fuel - satisfied clients and grateful employees. You will be the one responsible for this, and we could be the ones helping you start that journey.

This is a long-term vision however that will not be easily achieved. We also do not (yet) have the manpower or skills available to support the entire maritime industry. On the short term however, we can help you with the freely shared how-to-guides, tools, insights and stories that might help you on your way.

In addition, we can help you connect to a community of others sustainable heroes - Mr. Communability. This community has been made for Heroes like you. It is a platform where other sustainable do-ers can connect, share and ask questions about their specific needs. This community, and everything else we do and share, is free to use for you.

And you will live happily ever after…?

We know. It all sounds like a fairy-tale. Free insights. Free tools. A free community with experts.

What’s the catch?

At the moment, there is none. We believe in freely sharing, that’s it. All we are asking is your feedback and for you to share your story with us.

We want to live in a world that is exciting. A world that is fun, challenging and helps people to achieve their full potential. Our goal is to make the maritime industry sustainable, because we believe it is one of the hardest challenges of our time. It is also the most amount of fun an engineer can have with his or her pants on.

Yes, we will need help. No, it will not be done easily. But facing up to the Great Maritime Transformation requires bold solutions. We believe we can be one of them.
